Its real. Its good. It's Real Good.

Just got back from Spanish with Claire, we have a two hour break on Thursdays so we're just sitting in the dorm. She just made a blog so you should all check it out but it will pretty much say the same thing as mine. the URL is http://clairiece.blogspot.com

Anyways, Spanish was good today, the teacher talks in Spanish the whole time and I thought that it was going to be really hard but I actually understood everything and it was pretty cool. It seems like its going to be really easy, today we just went over syllables and pronunciation of words with accents and stuff.
They have hella cute western stuff here like sweatshirts and stuff so I'll probably buy some later I already bought a shirt the other day so maybe I'll wait a little while. I need to go shopping hecka bad though cause I pretty much have no clothes to wear. Who would have thought that I need some long sleeves here?? Actually, I'm not gonna lie, I knew but its way more fun to buy dresses and cute summer shirts so that's what I bought all summer long but there is this cute little vestie that I want from Love culture (best store ever) so I know I'm gonna be shopping when I get back.
The mall up here isn't that great and I'd rather shop with jackie anyways so we're just gonna wait until we go home for a weekend (next weekend actually).

So when I was packing my stuff i put my laundry detergent in my these little orange rugs i was bringing and somehow along the way it spilled and the rug was folded so it left a bunch of spots on it and it looked hecka dirty. So last night Claire had the genius idea to wash it so I stuck it in the sink and it got all wet and but then we couldn't ring it out cause its hella thick...so I hung it out the window to dry but its still just as wet this morning...I think its gonna take about a week to dry. Actually.

But on the upside there was a sale at fred meyer and we bought a ton of food. Like we got 48 ramen for 4 dollars. What a deal! we also snagged some stuff from the dining hall like bagels and we have Tupperware that we're gonna take so we can have more snacks.
As you can see its all healthy and delicious...yummy!

We have also acquired a generous supply of splenda courtesy of starbucks. Actually we stole it. But I think we need it more than they do and I know they have a ton in the back and I bought a short hot chocolate to make up for it.

This is our secret toaster oven (and a bunch of our ramen-- cause it wouldn't all fit on the shelf...cause we have like 50 of them) But its secret cause we're not supposed to have things that have an open coil or burner-- aka this. But we already got it so its just gonna stay hidden but we can only really use it when our RA isn't here. But she's not here a lot during the day so it should be fine.

First day of Classes

So Today was the first day of classes, it was really good all my teachers seem pretty cool.

  • Spanish 201- I was kind of nervous about skipping 101 and I have the same class as Claire so its pretty sweet that we have our first class in the morning. We woke up and made our coffee and had breakfast and stuff in our dorm which was pretty cool and then we walk the like...MILE to our class. Only its actually not that far but its down a huge hill and it sucks to walk back up it. The spanish teacher is pretty nice, i forget what her name is but she's funny and seems like she'll be a good teacher. I dont think spanish will be too hard, cause she said its meant for people who had atleast 3 years of spanish in highschool and remember it. Claire and I talk in spanish all the time so it should be cool
  • Education 197- My next class but its in the same room as my spanish class which is cool cause I dont have to walk anywhere but I left and went to the bathroom anyways cause I didn't want to be the only loser in there sitting at a desk the whole time. So I came back and the teacher's name the William Harrison Lay and we're supposed to be existentialist and decide what to call him...but he gave us like a million choices like will willy bill billy william lay and like a bajillion other things so it kind of sucked and i dont know what to call him. So i guess i'll just wait and see what everyone else calls him. I think the teacher assistant girl called him Bill so maybe i'll stick with that. Anyways the class seems like its gonna be hella easy, its a seminar class where we learn about what it takes to be a teacher at western and a little bit about teaching. So its mostly a lot of guest speakers and lectures and making connections with people around campus which is good. It isn't actually a class, its like 25 people who said that they are interested in education on their applications and had good grades and stuff and so they picked us and they're gonna hook us up with all this stuff thats supposed to help us succeed.
  • Philosophy of religion- So i didn't really even want to take this class and I kind of got stuck in it but it actually seems like its going to be really interesting. The professor is pretty chill and we're going to be looking at it from both sides and its not supposed to be biased towards one side or another so it shoudl be enlightening or whatever. I sat next to this one guy who was kind of hot but I think he was married.
  • Math- The teacher is kind of a babe and it seems hella easy for now. We'll see how it goes I guess.

Dorm pics

So i guess now that i'm off to college it'll be easier for me to keep up this blog to keep everyone updated on stuff. I get hella bored so i might write on it a lot but i'm hella lazy too so i'll probably forget. but I took some pictures of our dorm to put up. For those of you who don't know i'm rooming with my best friend claire and we're living in Kappa on the Ridge.

This is a picture from the window kind of facing the door. its cool cause we have our desks next to each other and that pink chair is one of those cool ones that folds out in to a bed so we can have visitors over to spend the night.

This one is the room from the door. Mine is the bottom bunk and claire is on top and that our mini fridge and microwave and coffee maker next to it and our beautiful purse collection

This is the closet and our tv and little kitchen area is in that corner by the window. We have a lot of stuff kind of, we have a dvd player and cable and a wii. but we dont have any games for the wii yet. We played rockband with some guys down the hall the other day and that was pretty fun. but the one guy was a drummer and he was really good so he played on expert while me and claire and the other guy played on easy and medium. I tried the drums...but it was the hardest thing i've ever done in my life.

This is my bed and the chaire under claire's bed. Its pretty cool cause its like a couch type place and its nice and cozy under there.

We're trying to keep it pretty clean cause its really cute and people keep coming in to say how cute it is. We met the girl from down the hall, her name is Shea and she has a lobster like mine (the one i stole from claire's little brother on accident...but i love it) but it sucks to be her cause she has to live with the RA. Our RA is pretty nice i guess, she lives a few doors down from us.

K well i'm gonna try and keep this updated but i bet i wont. so remind me i guess.

really? really?

So I guess i don't post on here enough...Its hard to think of entertaining things to write about though.

One thing that is entertaining me right now is the special effects in black and white movies. Its pretty genius actually. I'm watching Its a Wonderful Life and its supposed to be snowing outside and they are blowing snow up from the bottom and of the window. Its pretty cool looking. They have some cool special effects these days, but they had to be a lot more creative back then. Its a little bit cooler.

Oh yeah. Best movie ever: (besides Superbad--of course) Juno. If you haven't seen it you totally should. It stars Ellen Page (not to be confused with stupid Ellen Pompeo from Greys Anatomy) and Michael Cera (who I adore from superbad) and she gets pregnant from him and decides to put the kid up for adoption and its just a really super cute and adorable movie. It's good because I thought she was just a dumb little emo girl in the beginning, but she's actually really individual, which is legit because I'm getting really tired of emos. no joke. I mean really, doesn't it get old? Cause it got old for me the second I saw the tapered pants and same-3-chord guitar songs played over and over agian.

Another good movie is I am Legend with Will Smith. Its an actual legit scary movie, the first in a while actually. Although there are a lot of jumpy-scary scenes, I thought that the way that they made the "zombie" (infected people, whatever they are called) act was the scariest. Because they still acted like humans in some scenes...which scared the crap out of me.

And for those of you who enjoy Will Smith, there is a scene of him showing off his uber-buff bod doing pull ups.

Good times.

But I'm off to wait for Santa. I remember back when I couldn't sleep on Christmas Eve because I was just so excited for the presents. Now its more like Whoooooo sleep! Because as exciting as presents are, I just don't feel that it is necessary to give up an entire night of sleep to wait for them. They'll be there when I wake up and I'll be more able to enjoy them and hopefully look a little more bright eyed in the pictures. Which reminds me...I have to put on cute PJs and possibly some make up or atleast brush my hair so that I can look somewhat presentable in the pictures. You might say "oh it doesn't matter, it'll look natural!" No. It does matter. Because often times, the christmas pictures are the only ones that survive through the decades....is that really how you want to be remembered? I'll pass on that. But kudos if you don't mind generations of relatives seeing you tired and red-eyed trying to suck down a cup of coffee as fast as possible trying to wake up a little more while you unwrap presents. Its just more relaxing. of course i would rather that no pictures were taken because sometimes its hard to hold the surprised, joyful look long enough for people to fumble around with the camera and take the picture. Cause as good as the present may be, you can really only be surprised once. but I guess if i'm getting a present, one picture isn't really too much to ask...

Its about time...

So basically I haven't posted on here in forever. I'm been super super busy and so blogging isn't wayyy high on my list of things, to do, i'm not going to lie, its a little bit below myspace on my priorities.

So...my life is pretty much the same, I work at Ivars, only I'm a manager now, and I still go to school and it SUUUUUUCKS.

Also, I'm really tired of people starting Christmas things before Thanksgiving even happens. STOP IT. Christmas is long and over hyped enough as it is. At least wait until thanksgiving is over. seriously. Longer would be better, but I can deal with after thanksgiving.

Anyways, I'm going to go to bed and take a shower and maybe get some sleep

The DieCoaster

So I'm nearing the end of the longest vacation I've ever taken from work since I started...It's driving me crazy. Now, I'm not complaining too much, 2 weeks in florida + a week of cheer camp makes for a little vacation from real life, but being the workaholic that I am, I spend a good part of each day thinking about how many hours I could be working and wondering what I'm missing out on at work. My best friend just started working there, and I'd wanted to be there to train her...and I talk to my boss like everyday...in the form of texting and myspace. It's awesome. But florida is very nice, although I feel restless most of the time cause I have nothing to do, its nice to spend some time with the family and just sit around. And crazy roller coasters make it a whole lot better...My favorites so far are the Dueling Dragons (at Universal Studios) and The Kraken at SeaWorld. I never thought that one of my favorite roller coasters would live at a park full of dolphins that only has about 3 rides in it, but really, this roller coaster was awesome. It had all kinds of crazy turns and twists that I've never felt on a roller coaster before. It was crazy.

Also, I rode the world's tallest skycoaster. I'm not gonna lie, it scared the crap out of me. Basically you lay in this teeny tiny little harness thing that wraps around you and it pull you 300 feet in the air then lets you go....my hands are getting sweaty thinking about it.
Yeah.....This thing.
So my brother, my sister and I all went at the same time. And somehow I ended up beinig the one that has to pull the cord to let us go...Sweet! not! The guys at the bottom were really unclear about what was going on and ingored any questions we asked.
guy #1: "We're going to say '1,2,3 fly' and then you pull the cord, ok?"
Me: Uhhh...what cord?
Guy #1: ...
me: uhhh ok.
So we start going up...and up....and up. And when we get about 250 feet in the air I had a thought...how am I supposed to hear them say "1,2,3 fly"??? I could barely see them, much less hear them. And which cord was I supposed to pull? ? what if the cord I pulled was the emergency release for my harness...All of this flashed through my mind as we dangled 300 feet above a pond thingie...I tried to see how deep it was and wondered if I would be able to dive in to it. Then I hear a little voice saying "1, 2, 3, fly!" My guardian Angel? I think not, It was a little recording box.
I took a deep breath and pulled the cord.
Wow.
It was crazy. I'm totally going sky diving the first chance I get, cause I was awesome, but also the scariest thing I've ever felt in my life. Kind of like when you're on a rollercoaster and it goes down that first hilla nd youlift up out of your seat a little bit...like that. Only with no huge plastic shoulder harness to hold you down. But that part only lasted a few seconds before we were caught by the rope and started swinging. From there it was just fun.
In other news, I totally love shopping here. I got a nice shirt and two skirts for less then $40. Very nice.

Dubya again...

REPORTER: Mr. President, music is one of our largest exports the country has. Currently, every country in the world -- except China, Iran, North Korea, Rwanda and the United States -- pay a statutory royalty to the performing artists for radio and television air play. Would your administration consider changing our laws to align it with the rest of the world? DUBYA: Help. Maybe you've never had a President say this -- I have, like, no earthly idea what you're talking about. Sounds like we're keeping interesting company, you know? Look, I'll give you the old classic. Contact my office, will you? I really don't -- I'm totally out of my lane. I like listening to country music, if that helps.
-- No, that really doesn't help at all. But at least you admitted you were completely out of your depth. That's a first. Nashville, Tennessee, Jul. 19, 2007

Wow. really. This is our president? Reading over the fresh dubya quotes on Dubyaspeak I am shocked at what an idiot our president is. Really, I don't even know what to say about it. But as pissed as I am at him for being an idiot, its the people who voted for him (or frauded the votes) who i want to read that. oh well, only a year left anyways
